MATERIAL EXPERIENCE IN ARCHITECTURE
Project 1
Task:
Conduct a comprehensive case study on a captivating building in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. The group's objective involves identifying and analyzing five architectural building materials and two structural building materials based on the selected building. Within this analysis, designate one building material that exemplifies an experiential impact on end users through its application.
Additionally, a detailed illustration of the installation process for the chosen material is required. The outcome of the project will be presented on a single A1 size board, organized to encompass the following key elements:
.
1. Historical background of the chosen building (Location, establishment, architect).
2. Clear images and information (properties, location, application, selection reasoning, etc) of the FIVE (5)
architectural building materials and TWO (2) structural building materials respectively.
3. ONE (1) building material analysis: Material’s experience & construction of installation sketch.
4. Relevant images of the chosen building (floor layout, elevations, three-dimensional perspective etc.).
5. Overall conclusion on building material application on the selected building.
6. References
OUTCOME
REFLECTIons
As this was a group project, I had to work with a team. I realized how important communication and individual participation was. Not participating in group work slows down progress and lowers down others' motivation to work as well.
Learning about the different materials being used in the building and the different ways they were used to convey an experience was fun, I also managed to learn a lot about the building and the architect who designed it.
